Dr. Ronicka Harrison-Briscoe, nationally recognized educator, scholar and leader has always been passionate about her education and the education of others. Ronicka is a proud New Orleans native and first-generation college graduate. In 2006, she graduated cum laude from Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans, Louisiana, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science with a minor in environmental studies with a focus on environmental justice. It was at Xavier where she grew in her knowledge and passion for social justice. She spent her spare time serving in the community, participating in social justice research, tutoring, and volunteering in public schools.
Ronicka is an interdisciplinary scholar and practitioner whose career and community work spans nearly two decades. Ronicka formally studied political science, public administration (non-profit management), business, and executive leadership with an emphasis on the lived experiences of Black women in leadership. She has spent her career in education as a teacher, administrator, professor, university department chair, consultant, executive coach and strategist.
Ronicka has worked at every level of the education system (early childhood through 12 grade and university), in a variety of types of institutions (traditional, charter, private, etc.) and regions (urban, suburban, and rural) specializing in organizational strategy, executive leadership, community engagement, culturally responsive and equitable classrooms, EDIB (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion + Belonging), and early childhood education.
Ronicka is actively involved in promoting positive and sustainable community change through board service in the following organizations: Legacy Foundation for Girls, 826 New Orleans (Immediate Past President), 826 National, Parent Leadership Training Institute – Civic Design Team, Teach for America Alumni Advisory (Co-Chair), Loyola University – Women’s Leadership Academy Alumni Advisory, and Faculty Women of Color in the Academy Advisory.
Ronicka completed requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Executive Leadership at the University of Holy Cross, resulting in her making university history, becoming the first student to earn a Ph.D. in the program.
Among many honors, Ronicka was recognized as a 2022 City Business Woman of the Year, 2023 Teach for America Community Leader of the Year, Xavier University of Louisiana 40 under 40 (2023) and University of Holy Cross Community Service Award Recipient (2022).
She has continued to consult nationally as a strategist and executive coach. She travels the country as a speaker, presenter, panelist, and coalition builder. Ronicka is a Gallup certified Strengths Coach and MBTI Certified.
